Main symptoms for diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease caused by too much of glucose in the body. Generally the sugar in the body is regulated by a hormone called insulin. This is secreted by beta cells of the pancreas. Pancreas consists of four types of cells among which beta cells are responsible for secretion of insulin.

The function of insulin is to move the glucose from blood stream in to the cells where it is stored as energy. In diabetes the glucose is not broken down so it remains in the blood and is harmful to body in many ways. This is known as glucose toxicity.

Diabetes is mainly of two types type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 is less common among people and it constitutes only 5 to 15 percent of diabetes people. For type 1 diabetes people insulin is a must and they need to take well balanced diet to maintain blood glucose levels. Type 1 diabetes is more common among youngsters so it is known as juvenile diabetes and early onset diabetes.

Diabetes to women during pregnancy is gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes may only last to women till the delivery if proper care is taken by the mother. On the other hand if it is ignored it leads to type 2 diabetes. Women with type 2 diabetes are at a risk of having large babies. Gestational diabetes occurs to women during the second half of pregnancy.

Feeling very thirsty

Increased urination

Tiredness

Weight loss

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes develops quickly some of the related signs of diabetes are

Blurred vision

Cramps

Constipation

Skin related infections

Type 2 diabetes is more seen in adults of age 40 and above so it is known as adult onset diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is more common among people. Insulin is not a must dose for type 2 diabetes patients so it known as non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus.

People who are diabetic need to monitor their weight, take part in physical routines like exercises. Take a well balanced diet which has high fiber content in it. They should cut down intake of simple carbohydrates and replace them with complex carbohydrates.
