Thanks for listening to the Oopa Loopa Cafe. Just because of your self-proclaimed affinity for "weird", I have to tell you: I watch very little television and when I do, it's either the far out stuff, pure escapism or it's history / geography, etc. After the show, I watched "Fringe" on Fox Online. Just finished. The episode (entitled "Unleashed") actually aired Tuesday, but I had not had a chance to watch it or even its teaser earlier. One of the characters, a student at MIT (Boston) was named Jonathon Swift...He didn't live past the opening scene and his father's genetic creation is what killed him. Cue theme from Twilight Zone. I've suspected for a long time that there are some Masonic researchers on the writing staff for this show. One of the main characters, Walter, was a patient at St.Claire's Hospital for the Mentally Ill (fictitious), released in the first episode. One of the frequent enigmatic teasers is a leaf with an equilateral triangle / pyramid for leaf veins. I just had to share that.... BTW, I grew up watching Sammy Terry in Indiana. I enjoyed a thousand bad horror movies while he hosted. Good times. I'll give your show some listens, too.

THIS WEEK'S MOVIE RE-ENACTMENt: 'THE SCREAMING SKULL'!

Oops, I ruined it. Miss X had to dust this one off and pull it out of the old movie slush to show it this week. This is the classic movie to watch if you are depressed and have no worthwhile friends. IN FACT IS IS SO WEIRD WE CANT FIND IT! SO WE'RE SHOWING 'THE SCREAMING SKULL' INSTEAD! AND MAYBE A CLIP FROM THAT VERY CREEPY 'LAST MAN ON EARTH' FILM. As always, your calls on your paranormal experiences, bigfoot sightings, or scary stories are very welcome. Sit back, relax, and have yourself some popcorn, 'cause here we go!

    WHAT MAKES BASEMENTS SO SCARY

WHAT IS IT ABOUT BASEMENTS?!! I used to run up the stairs sure something was chasing me and touching my legs when I ran out of the basement at night as a kid.. I can also always tell someone is going to say 'I was in the basement' before they tell their scary scary story. Do YOU have a scary basement story? . We also touch on the Loch Ness monster 'tooth' that was supposedly found . In A TOTALLY UNIQUE FORM, MISS X WILL PUT HER FUNA CTING SKILLS TO GOOD USE AND 'ACT OUT' THE PARTS FROM TONITE'S MOVIE HORROR CLASSIC 'Alison's Birthday'.

  • Original Air Date:

PREMIERE WITH OUR GUEST: HORROR HOST OF 'SPOOK SHOW'!!!

We kick off our first show tonite with the wonderful Dale Kay, host of cable Tv's 'Spook Show'. Dale knows all about horror show hosting and old low-budget films. Call in to talk to him tonite ABOUT THE GREAT HISTORY OF CLEVELAND LATE NIGHT HORROR FILM HOSTS

  • Date / Time:

THIS SHOW WAS CREATED AND INSPIRED BY CLEVELAND LATE NIGHT HORROR HOSTS

SEE VIDEOS DOWN MY PAGE NEAR THE BOTTOM:

IN 2007 , YOUR HOST MISS X FOUGHT TO KEEP BIG CHUCK AND LIL JOHN'S SHOW FORMAT ON THE AIR AND EVEN APPEALED TO CLEVELANDERS VIA PHONE AND INTERNET TO CALL IN TO THE TV STATION SO THAT THE SKITS YOU SEE IN THE VIDEOS WOULD REMAIN  ON AIR. What began as a horror tv host show in Cleveland in the 1960's with Ghoulardi grew to a national cult following for Big Chuck and the horror film tv format. Although these skits sometimes scared me as a little kid of 5-6 yrs old, I grew up wanting to host a show, talk about the low budget horror movies, and act out the parts.  I used to fall asleep at 1-2 am watching old Sherlock holmes and BBC horror films that the horror hosts showed (the show ran 11:30 pm until approximately 2:30 in the morning on friday nights!)

This radio show is an attempt to recapture and CONTINUE the tradition that was started in Cleveland with the Ghoulardi show over 45 yrs ago. Radio has the very unique ability to allow the listener to visual the monsters and mayhem and subject matter, often making it more scary!

The places you see in the videos are all from Cleveland of the 70's, 80's and 90's and are places I walked, worked, and cherished. If you want to know the sense and feel of what Cleveland is all about, watch the big chuck and lil john videos!  We love you, Big Chuck and gang!! Thank you for making a childhood and adolescence so fun and enjoyable.. I can smell the popcorn now!
