Well, I could tell you that I have practiced law as an attorney for the last 18 years after attending Georgetown Law School; that I owned a successful law practice specializing in corporate work, immigration and real estate; that I attended Goucher College in Maryland (when it was all women’s). I could also tell you that I am working my executive coaching certification from Leadership University/B-Coach. I could also tell you that I grew up in Africa and came to live in the States when I was a teenager.
However, that does not begin to tell you who I really am…
I am a recovering lawyer and a passionate personal and business coach. In my law practice, I spent more time coaching clients just like you and wading through the emotional and mental perspectives of their legal issues than I did actually practicing law.
I discovered long time ago that I did not like the adversarial nature of litigation. I preferred bringing people together in transactions and helping multiple parties come together with the same focus in mind. I saw first hand how people just like you cut off what they yearned for the most because they gave in to their limiting beliefs. I saw many people needlessly suffer.
I gained a reputation as a professional that will go the extra mile with a client to get to and resolve the underlying reasons for self sabotage and then ensure a successful transaction. Such days were my best working days. I look back on those transactions with deep satisfaction. That is what led me to being a results oriented coach. I love helping people discover their own personal authenticity and blossom into more of who they really are. I love helping people clear up foggy thinking. I am a passionate advocate of authentic change and self leadership helping others courageously face transformation. Coaching you fills the gap in your life while you move from where you are to where your inner being knows you belong.
My global cultural background gave me a keen sensitivity for people and how they think. People from different backgrounds think differently so I always had to be sensitive to my environment and be culturally cautious so that I would not step on any one’s toes. This made me realize how much programming we absorb just being born into a particular society with its own mores, values and traditions. Therefore, it is easy for me to see individual beliefs for what they are – non facts.
I call myself a recovering attorney because I could no longer primarily align myself with the workings of the corporate world. I am answering a calling to help others authentically discover who they really are through the eyes of their passion. I embrace this role I play as your personal coach and an advocate for your authentic being.
Happily,
Coach Iyabo
