Are you depressed? Do loved ones minimize your depression? Are you unsure how to help yourself—or even if you can? The truth of the matter is that depression can be disabling, misunderstood, and misdiagnosed in our society. Cathy Reimers, referred to as Dr. Cathy or Doc, is a psychologist in private practice in New Jersey. Along with her cohosts, she discusses many topics surrounding major depressive disorder (MDD), such as its symptoms; the links between depression and brain chemistry; the impact of family relationships; traumatic events; the risks of MDD; and useful resources pertaining to depression. To help you heal, Dr. Cathy discusses techniques and solutions from her newly released book, The Mind, Heart, and Soul of Depression: Your Guided Journal for Emotional Healing and Getting to the Truth of the Matter. Doc’s goal is to get to the truth of the matter of what’s causing your depression by offering hope, encouragement and mindfulness. She wants listeners to feel inspired and be able to abandon their shame and the social stigma attached to MDD. MDD is a lonely disease, but you don’t have to be alone. Doc and her cohosts are here for you. Join them and call in with questions or concerns regarding your depression or the depression of someone you love. Take the first step on that path toward healing.
