Boca Raton, Florida, Psychologist Dr. Heidi Rimer Cherwony was born & raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a teenager, she was one of the top-ranked tennis players in the country. Following a brief career as a professional tennis player, she accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Tulsa. After graduating with both academic and athletic honors, she moved to South Florida to earn her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with honors from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Cherwony gained several years of experience with individual therapy, group therapy, and psychological assessment among a variety of client populations. Dr. Cherwony then accepted a post-doctorate position at the prestigious Renfrew Center, the leading institution for the treatment of eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder. In addition to her private practice within WellnessMD and her role as President of mindandbodydoctor.com, Dr. Cherwony also serves as the Director of Psychology for US Bariatric. Dr Cherwony counsels clients before and after bariatric surgery and helps them in their successful journey through this life changing process. She is also a member of The American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and has been a distinguished presenter at conferences over the years. Dr. Cherwony is a recognized expert in assisting her clients in the areas of Depression, Anxiety, Stress Management, long-term weight management, eating issues, Bariatric Surgery, addiction and complete wellness for a happy and healthy life!
