WARNING MATURE SUBJECT MATERIAL In such a PC culture, sometimes things go overboard! The National Ad Council, who brings us many useful public service announcements, has come up with a tv campaign to discourage the youth of today form saying things are "gay" in a manner alluding to the fact that something is stupid. Have we learnt nothing from antidrug commercials.. its that they don't work, and the research is their look it up! I did a 30 minute segment on this, LISTEN HERE WHILE YOU READ inviting people of the opposite point, that being that it is offensive to gay persons to here such things. I call lit a point to clarify that why i entirely disagree, it is an unnecessary waste of time and spending. Thank god this council is paid for by corporations and not our government. So this site, www.thinkb4youspeak.com/ is where the nitty gritty gets. On the bottom left corner of the site is a Flash ran application with words on a chalkboard like surface. when you click each word gives an alternate definition. words such as Gay, Queer, F@g, Lesbo and Trany are understandable negative terms, but others such as d1ck and pr1ck are separate insults entirely. I was not happy that Geek was on the small list, I host an internet radio show and am writing a blog right now, so what am I. A geek, and im proud of it baby you better believe it! This also implies that geeks are somehow homosexual in nature?!?! Heres the real problem in my opinion. The words Cougar, Beard and Cherry... YES CHERRY! Cougar why does that even come up, a beard, which i never even heard of apparently is a escort of the opposite sex to bring at events to appear straight. But Cherry! Why even make people, kids for that matter, have to think deeper then the word, and boom the imagery that appears. How dare they think that its ok to do this crapola.... This is pointed at a teenage audience, but i am interested to know how many insecure people it took to cook this one up. Cherry? yea, its not the most important issue but I poped this one first! I will be writing to a few big names like rush and savage about this, and they can take all the credit, becuase at the level im at now, i wont get it. sometimes doign the right thing is reward enough. as far as the arguement at hand, if refering to stupid things being hurtful, I do want to hear from you on this, send me an email about how this on the site or at My Email. Alternativly I would love to have your calls on this issue, as my show is based off of callers responding to my comments on isues or presenting new topics for us to discuss.
