Margaret is an inspirational coach, using her background in counseling and somatic work to help her clients envision and create the lives they have previously only dreamed of. She authored a chapter in the anthology Overcomers, Inc., published just last month, and is also currently writing a book on the healthy workplace due December 2009. Margaret seeks to foster growth in all her work and is, of course, committed to her own journey of continual learning and self-discovery.

She has also created a new course called "Living Appreciatively: A Journey to Joy." This course takes participants through a process of seeing what is already good and right in their lives, and builds on that to help them create more joyful lives. The facilitator guides the participants through learning materials developed by author Jacqueline Kelm and based on principles of appreciative inquiry.

Midlife Matters: Jim Duzak ("Midlife Dialogues" Series)

Jim Duzak, the “Attorney at Love”, has spent his entire adult life dealing with issues of marriage, divorce, single-parenting, post-divorce dating, and remarriage.

By age twenty, he was a husband and father. By thirty, he was divorced and raising his daughter by himself. He met his second wife through a personal ad, and at one time owned and operated a dating service specializing in mid-life matchups.

As an attorney, Jim represented hundreds of clients in divorce and custody cases, and later served as a full-time divorce mediator for one of the busiest family courts in the country.

Jim has also written and lectured about personal ads and online dating, and for many years has done one-on-one relationship coaching. As he says in his book, he has pretty much seen it all, heard it all, or done it all, including making a lot of the mistakes that he tries to keep his readers and clients from making.

Despite his qualifications, Jim prefers that people think of him not as an “expert” but as a coach, counselor and trusted friend.

A native New Englander, Jim is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and Boston College Law School. He now lives in southeastern Arizona with his wife, Sandra. Mid-Life Divorce and the Rebirth of Commitment (Cold Tree Press, 2007) is his first book.

Our August 5 Guest, Laura Lee Carter, Will Not Be Able to Join Us!

Sadly, this week's guest (August 5, 2009), Laura Lee Carter, has had a family emergency and will not be able to be with us this week. We'll reschedule her in October, so look for her then! (Below you'll find a description of Laura Lee and her work)

Laura Lee Carter is a writer, midlife counselor and motivational speaker who assists others in believing in their dreams and making them come true! She believes we all have boundless potential to change at any age, and discover the life we can only imagine now.

Laura Lee thought she’d seen it all by the time she hit 40, but then the real changes began. After 25 years as an academic librarian, she experienced a divorce at age 46, and then job loss at 48.

So she started her own matchmaking service, met the love of her life, and then whipped up enough courage to change careers one more time, transitioning into a life as a freelance writer, counselor and motivational speaker.

In late 2007 she crowned herself the “Midlife Crisis Queen” and started her popular blog: http://www.MidlifeCrisisQueen.com. She has appeared on the CBS4 Denver news this past February, and on YouTube. Her new book Midlife Magic: Becoming the Person YOU are Inside! is now available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. She's presently producing a MIDLIFE CHANGE JOURNAL to accompany her new book!
