The country music group, Rascal Flatts, sings about a time when life was simpler: “I miss Mayberry, sittin’ on the front porch drinkin’ ice cold cherry coke, watchin’ the clouds roll by.” If you’re familiar with Scottsdale, Arizona, it may seem like the song describing Mayberry is actually Scottsdale; safe, secure, relaxed. But, what really makes Scottsdale stand out from the rest?

Under the direction of Mayor Jim Lane, Scottsdale, Arizona boasts the lowest crime rate in a city with a population of over 200,000 in the United States. That’s quite a feat! But, there’s more to Scottsdale and why it seems to be a cut above the rest.

Mayor Jim Lane will be joining Changing Direction to discuss how he continues to create and manage a city that excels. We will discuss what strategies and programs Scottsdale uses that other Mayors may find beneficial to them to reduce crime as well as services that are offered to survivors of trauma. Mayor Lane will also discuss his vision for Scottsdale as he continues in his second term and what areas he would like to see Change Direction.

Michele’s shows combine scientific research, cutting-edge guests and personal stories that highlight the challenges and successes of deliberately deciding to change the direction of your life.
