Owner and founder of Lee & Marie’s Cakery Company, Andrea “Andy” Travaglia is a woman on a mission. A native New Yorker with a background in the visual arts and advertising, she relocated to Miami in 2008 with the goal of building profitable businesses that positively impact the community, with opportunities for autistic adults at the heart of her efforts.

Lee & Marie’s, a dynamic new café and bakery or “cakery,” offers mouthwatering baked goods, sandwiches, and salads at their newly-opened 40 South Pointe Drive location in Miami Beach. Andrea, who has partnered with award-winning pastry maestro Yannis Janssens to oversee production, drives her savory startup with 2 goals: to offer a creative twist on American bakery classics and to provide support and employment to adults with Autism Syndrome Disorder. Both are being realized;  they partner with the University of Miami/Nova Southeastern University’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities to help autistic adults down the path to greater independence. This 2nd mission embraces a cause close to Andrea’s heart, after seeing firsthand her bestfriend sruggle with helping her autistic son transition to adulthood. Named to honor the recipes of her daughters’ grandmothers, the quaint, homey Lee & Marie’s shop features a menu of  75 different freshly made items which change daily based on the availability of local ingredients.

To try their infamous New York cheesecake, German chocolate cake, or “Cup Cones” stop in daily from 7 AM-7 PM. Visit http://www.leeandmaries.com/  or follow them on Facebook or Twitter @leeandmaries!(305) 672-5167
