A casual look at the New York Mets
Date / Time: 9/8/2009 2:11 AM UTC
With the return of Mets centerfielder Carlos Beltran a possibility, Anthony C. Wayne and Tommy Romero kick off the final month of the Mets season with some added enthusiasm. This week’s news and notes begins with the mundane, Gary Sheffield sidelined indefinitely, to the absurd, David Wright’s larger-than-life-style batting helmet, and then ends up on an embarrassing note with the pending incarceration of one of the franchise’s most decorated pitchers of 1969 Mets fame, Jerry Koosman.
This weeks’ episode, Mets Welcome September Call-Ups, delves into ESPN columnist Jayson Stark’s piece on the future of the current New York Mets organization. After listening to his co-host, Tommy Romero, relay some of the negative quotes listed in the article around the league from various scouts and team executives concerning the state of the Mets, Anthony C. Wayne loses his cool and chastises Stark’s article as obvious Mets bashing. At one point in the discussion, Romero agrees with Wayne stating that Stark is indeed piling it on a bit. Wayne defends his stance alluding to the fact that Mets fans have endured enough already and have a firm understanding of how disappointing their season has been. All of us are aware of the many questions regarding the Mets starting pitching, their coaching staff, and the size of the Wilpons’ wallet. Speaking for all Mets fans, we don’t need Jayson Stark to clue us in on what’s in store for the 2010 season and beyond.
The dynamic duo are again joined with fan-favorite Tommy L Biggs of Talking Giants Football fame and are able to close out the show quietly with another hilarious installment of Mets Higher or Lower.
