For 24 years, David Mitchell has been one of the urban music’s top journalists in the country. As managing editor for Urban Network Magazine he has interviewed some of urban music’s greatest ranging from Whitney Houston, Erykah Badu, Akon, Patti LaBelle and more. Mitchell is currently the founder/owner of Amalgam Group, which oversees Amalgamation magazine as well as an artist development firm and an artist management company.

In the summer of 2009, Mitchell launched an industry print and eMagazine quarterly publication, titled Amalgamation. The premier edition saluted Songwriters, Producers and Music Publishing companies—servicing the music industry and its affiliates. Grammy winning-producer Rodney Jerkins and singer Keri Hilson were the cover stories. The magazine has enjoyed cover stories and interviews with 50 Cent, J. Sean, Erykah Badu, Roscoe Dash, KEM, El DeBarge, NBA star Carmelo Anthony, Melanie Fiona, and others.

For much of his career, Mitchell served as Vice President/Managing Editor at Urban Network Magazine (16 years), where he interviewed and established relationships with many of the music industry’s top brass and recording artists. As a journalist, his portfolio includes interviews with executives like Sylvia Rhone, Radio One's Cathy Hughes, SonyATV's Martin Bandier, BET's Stephen Hill & Debra Lee, EMI Publishing's Jon Platt; and iconic artists such as Jon Legend, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, JaRule, LL Cool J, to name a few.
