JEFF BARBER Sonic Boom Records Toronto, Canada http://sonicboommusic.com/ Talented Bitches aren’t just artists and performers- this week’s Talented Bitch is a tenacious and brilliant businessman! Owner of Sonic Boom Records in Toronto, Canada, Jeff Barber has gone from working in a record shop in his hometown of Minneapolis, USA, during high school to owning Toronto, Canada’s most relevant and creative record stores the city has ever seen. Despite the distribution of music and movies becoming primarily digital Jeff has found a way to keep his store thriving and continuously providing music fans of all genres a place where they can still experience the liaison relationship record stores provide between artists and their fans.  Jeff took his shop from Milwaukee, USA where he was surviving on butter sandwiches to make ends meet in 1995, to having a 2 story shop on Bloor street in Toronto where bands played, and the shops window displays became infamous pieces of art for over a decade. In 2011 their lease expired and they weren’t granted a new one which meant Jeff once again had to adapt to a major change in his business, which he did by opening 2 new Sonic Boom locations in Toronto and soon will accomplish another dream of his- owning his own bar. See Jeff intterviewed regarding his new stores while they were moving and why here: http://www.nowtoronto.com/daily/nowtube/story.cfm?content=182425   00:05:00MelBlossomnosonic boom, jeff, record, music, torontoJoin comedian and visual artist Mel Blosom from Talentedbitches.com interview Talented Bitches from all over the world as she sits by her pool in Merida, MexicTalented Bitches Radiohttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/melblossom/2012/06/13/talented-bitches-radioEntertainmenthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/melblossom/2012/06/13/talented-bitches-radio/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/melblossom/2012/06/13/talented-bitches-radioWed, 13 Jun 2012 22:30:00 GMTTalented Bitches Radio DOBIE MAXWELL- comic, radio personality, actor http://www.dobiemaxwell.com This week meet one of the people that helped Mel get started comedy and has been a mentor to her ever since, Dobie Maxwell! Dobie's credits include an appearance on Late Night with Craig Ferguson and he's worked with such notable comedians as Jay Leno, Jeff Foxworthy, Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Tim Allen, Drew Carey, Andrew "Dice" Clay, Richard Pryor, Sam Kinison, Dennis Miller, Chris Rock, and many others too. Dobie Maxwell has criss-crossed North America countless times as a comedian and has appeared in 48 states and much of Canada.  "I've been to places neither Rand nor McNally has ever heard of," he says. "I've got more miles on me than the Space Shuttle." Every show is unique and Dobie prides himself in never doing the exact same show twice. "Miles Davis once said he played SOME of the same songs every night but he never played them in exactly the same way. Well, me too. I like to do a one of a kind show for each individual audience, even if I do more than one show in a single night. It's my personal gift to them and I want it to be special." One thing Dobie has learned how to do is be versatile. "I had to," he says. "Or I would have been out of the business early. I needed to learn to entertain a wide variety of audiences to get paid so that's what I did. Bookers have always told me they can put me in front of bikers or seniors or teenagers and I can pull off a show. They're right. But it took a lot of years to be able to do that. That's where the craftsmanship comes in. Comedy is truly a craft." 00:32:00MelBlossomnomaxwell,Dobie,comedy,talented,bitchesDOBIE MAXWELL- comic, radio personality, actor http://www.dobiemaxwell.com This week meet one of the people that helped Mel get started comedy and has been aTalented Bitches Radiohttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/melblossom/2012/05/30/talented-bitches-radioEntertainmenthttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/melblossom/2012/05/30/talented-bitches-radio/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/melblossom/2012/05/30/talented-bitches-radioWed, 30 May 2012 22:30:00 GMTTalented Bitches Radio Join comedian and visual artist Mel Blosom from Talentedbitches.com interview Talented Bitches from all over the world as she sits by her pool in Merida, Mexico with her dogs.
