Black History Month: Are You For Or Against It?
Every year, we spend 28 days or so talking about Black History. But, is this practice beneficial or harmful to our overall agenda? Join Alex Primo and Asha Zuri this Thursday, July 7th, 2016 at 9 pm EST (6 PST, 7 MST, 8 CST) as we explore the pros and cons of celebrating our history in this fashion. "Negro History Week," was created by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926 and obviously it was meant to be a positive and motivational time. How can it hurt us to have a period of time when all of America pays attention to Black "concerns"? A better question that is discussed less frequently is how does it help us? Does it add to our efforts to liberate ourselves from Babylon or does it solidify our position in it? Why was February chosen instead of any other month? How did Woodson's contemporaries view this notion? All of these questions and more will be dissected and debated.
Tune-in and enjoy the show.
