History Lessons or Lessons from History: What Did We Learn?

"This crusade is much more important than the anti- lynching movement, because there would be no lynching if it did not start in the schoolroom."

~ Carter G. Woodson

Join AlexPrimo and Asha Zuri, Thursday, May 18, 2016 at 9 pm EST (6 PST, 7 MST, 8 CST) as we explore, dissect, and examine the real lessons we need to take from history and how we need to adjust our actions and behavior to reflect this understanding.

We have been taught that we were slaves brought to America, but in reality we were free people who were kidnapped, stolen, and unjustly delivered into the hands of our enemies. But, this is old news. The new question is what have we learned from this ordeal. What lessons did we take from the attacks on free Blacks, the theft of our lands, the so-called race riots, the Black codes/Jim Crow Laws, stop and frisk, police brutality, wage inequality, poor housing conditions, or any of the other new ways to say or practice slavery.

Ask yourself, did we learn anything from Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, William Parker, Booker T Washington, Ida B Wells, Marcus Garvey, Stokely Carmichael, Fred Hampton, Fannie Lou Hamer, Malcolm X, or Martin Luther King, Jr or are we stuck in an unforgiving loop of terror and suffering?

Why should we keep waiting on someone to come say something that moves us to actions when we have decades and generations worth of quality brothers and sisters who have not only said it, lived it, but left a doggone template for you to follow.
