This week we are fortunate to have Dr. Karen Harding as our guest. Dr. Harding, her husband Dr. Richard Judah and Dr Gant co-authored a paper on AD/HD some years ago (Outcome-based comparison of Ritalin versus food-supplement treated children with AD/HD), which was based on our mutual research and is accessible on Medline or PubMed.gov.

Knowing anecdotally that we can achieve results with nutritional supplements which are at least as good as Ritalin, Dr. Harding spearheaded a trial comparing the two interventions. Indeed, the supplements achieved results equal to Ritalin.

I had thought that once it was "proven" that a safer, natural, non-addictive, non-brain-injurious intervention - nutritional supplements - worked as well as dangerous addictive drugs, that parents and kids would be flocking to our doors.

But alas, we live in a fast food, sound byte, quick fix, insane world, and the convenience of giving kids a little white pill - essentially identical to cocaine as proven on neuroimagery brain scans - outweighs the hassle of feeding them properly and administering a few supplements.

We will use this opportunity to update our latest thinking about rational, science-based, safe treatments for AD/HD.
