Rotator Cuff Therapy - A Good Alternative To Surgery?

Can rotator cuff therapy be a sensible alternative for healing your injured shoulder?  Under certain circumstances physical therapy, done intelligently and consistently, can heal your shoulder without the need for surgery or other intrusive measures.

Note: Check out http://www.rotatorcufftherapyand.wordpress.com for more details on a physical therapy program that helped me heal my injured shoulder without the need for surgery.

When I noticed a dull ache in my right shoulder a couple years ago I didn't give it much thought. I'm very physically active and I just figured it was a typical muscle strain that would go away on its own.  It didn't.

It turned out that I had a rotator cuff injury and the thought of surgery was not very appealing.  After researching all my options I decided to get on a comprehensive rotator cuff therapy program.

It was slow going at first.  The rotator cuff is comprised of many small muscles and tendons and it doesn't get a lot of blood flow.  All this makes healing a rather slow process.  But I stuck with the program and less than a year later I was completely pain free and had full range of motion again.

If you decide to go the physical therapy route, make sure you don't just pick a random group of exercises you read about on the internet.  This is a sure way to aggravate your shoulder injury.  Any kind of rehabilitation must be done in a progressive ans systematic way.  Only follow a program designed by a qualified physical therapist who specializes in rotator cuff injuries.

Go to http://www.rotatorcufftherapyand.wordpress.com for more details on the rotator cuff therapy program that helped me tremendously.

Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery!

    Matt Olson
