Introduction of Tom: Tom Peek lived his early life on Grey Cloud Island in Minnesota’s smallest township, halfway between St. Paul and Hastings at a great bend in the Mississippi. He obtained an MA from the University of Minnesota in Environmental and Economic Sustainability and wrote policy studies and scholarly articles at the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs for nearly a decade. For 25 years he has lived on the Big Island of Hawai’i, where he’s been a mountain and astronomy guide, an eruption duty ranger, and an exhibit writer.
