At age 11, Joan,  landed a spot on WSM’s Friday Night Frolics in Nashville and was invited to appear the following Saturday night on WSM’s live Grand ‘Ole Opry.
At age 17, Joan auditioned for, and was awarded, the lead female spot on a live TV show, “Country Music Jubilee”, airing over WLTV, Bowling Green, Ky. Upon graduation from White County High School, Joan moved to Kentucky to continue work on her TV show. The live show began as a half-hour segment and over 2 ½ years, grew to 2 ½ hours of live country music and comedy. Joan was featured as the “Country Music Jubilee Sweetheart”. Her show became a tour stop for the Nashville Opry stars.
Joan signed her first recording contract for Hummingbird Records. Her first single, “Crazy Stripes” b/w “I’ll Cherish Your Love” charted in Billboard and Cashbox. Her second single, “That’s A Fact of Life”, for a self-owned label, along with her manager and promoter, charted as well.
In 2004, Joan’s and her husband’s music took a drastic turn when they each received an award from the Country Gospel Music Association. Joan received the honor of “Female Vocalist of the Year”. They obeyed the Lord’s call and dedicated their music to Him right then and there. Joan received the same award again in 2009. Also in 2009, Joan completed a college course that led to her ordination as a Music Minister by the Country Gospel Music Association. In 2012, Joan joined the CGMA’s leadership team and is currently serving as Ordained Music Minister Coordinator for that organization.
Her newest CD, “It’s Not Complicated” includes 10 original songs which Joan declares are written by the Lord; she is simply the vessel He uses.
