What is wisdom?

I will talk with Sharon Farber, Ph.D., about her spiritual path and professional work.

Dr. Farberis a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work in private practice in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.  She is the recipient of an NIMH fellowship, and has been elected to the National Academies of Practice as a Distinguished Practioner. She has taught at medical schools, schools of social work, training institutes, and the Cape Cod Institute and has been an invited speaker in the U.S, Canada, and abroad. She is the author of several papers and two books. When the Body Is the Target: Self-Harm, Pain, and Traumatic Attachments and Hungry for Ecstasy: Trauma, the Brain, and the Influence of the Sixties.

She has served on the editorial board of the Clinical Social Work Journal, has received an award for psychoanalytic writing, and is a consultant to the writing program, New Directions in Psychoanalytic Thinking, in Washington, DC. She runs a program for clinicians who want to write about their work in a lively, engaging manner.  She is currently an adjunct professor at New York University School of Social Work.
In Hungry for Ecstasy, she explores the hunger for ecstatic experience that can lead people down the road to self-destruction. In an attempt to help mental health professionals and concerned individuals understand and identify the phenomenon and ultimately intervene with patients, friends, and loved ones, Farber speaks both personally and professionally to the reader.
