I will talk with Gia Lisa Krahne about her spiritual path and professional work.

A lifelong actress, dancer, singer, pianist and writer, Gia creates, teaches, and performs with relentless devotion and attention, bridging her yogic practices with her life as artist and teacher. Much of her personal ritual of study is entrusted to teaching meditation, yoga, healing, Tantra and Vedic studies, in which she finds a deep confluence with her theatrical vision. After meeting at The Living Theatre in 2010, she joined artistic director Carlo Altomare in re-establishing The Alchemical Theatre (1981-). Together they lovingly run their theatre company and the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory on West 14th Street in Manhattan, a creative space of beautiful rehearsal and teaching studios with a white-box performance theatre, where she also holds healing sessions by donation.

Gia has also been teaching piano, singing and acting for almost 20 years. She is a productive poet and accomplished theatre dancer, specializing in the repertoire of Bob Fosse. She received her degrees in psychology/English from NYU, honors in classical voice/piano from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, with further medical studies at Columbia University. Gia also spent some intermittent years working in neuroscience and addiction research at NYU Medical Center.

As a young teacher, even with years of experience, Gia considers herself very lucky to have gained the knowledge she has thus far. Rebirthing daily, she lives her life openly, patiently, and joyfully, constantly aware of the intricate, eternally forming and unforming web of human interaction. Her life is an example of a thoroughly content human being, navigating and bathing in the sea of prakriti: material existence
