I talked with Rachel McCullough-Sanden about her spiritual path and professional work.
Rachel grew up in the San Joaquin Valley as a 5th-generation Californian. With roots in the West and while studying at the University of California, Berkeley, Rachel fostered her love of adventure studying in Budapest and traveling to twenty other European countries. Upon graduating with Sociology and Legal Studies bachelor degrees in 2006, she moved to New York City and found herself in life's greatest -- and, at times, most difficult -- journey. In the last six years, Rachel has worked in the corporate financial sector, managed an international microfinance foundation, cared for her terminally ill roommate, and began a marriage.
The last six years proved incredibly arduous, and admittedly, rewarding. Her Christian faith and community of friends and family helped re-balance and re-focus her through the tumult and feelings of derailment. This fall, Rachel will begin the Masters in Public Health program at Columbia University and continue to move forward in life with her husband, Jeffrey Angell, a music therapist at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn.
