However as we became aware of our self as an individual, that is when we saw ourselves in the mirror it changed everything. When we saw ourselves in the mirror, so to speak, we discovered our individual self and our view of the world changed. This, along with what others were telling us about us caused us to begin taking on an identity of our own. And as we fully took on this identity of ourselves as being separate, something changed about us. We became self-aware and things began happening to us such as this is mine and that's yours which grew into me, me, me, and me against you and me for or against an indifferent world. Further into the development of our identity we became more and more concerned about #1 and less and less concerned about others or the world. In fact this is when competition began creeping in, and before we knew it we began competing for everything. We competed for toys, for love and affection, for attention, and for the things we thought we wanted in life. This new view is still with many of us, in fact we can see it all around us, its called greed, envy, vanity, and selfishness, the need to compete to get what "WE" want out of life, and many times ignoring the consequences it imposes on others and even our planet. Fortunately there's another view that we can take on, and that view is the combination of the "out" view of a child, and the "in" view as self-conscious, where we are both conscious of the in view and at the same time the view out, where we are now both the identity of our individual self in a separate world as well as the identity of our Self as the world. Life Essence permeates and animates everything. Life Essence is expressed in infinite forms such as you, me and everything else in Existence. Not a single thing that we perceive is not of this "ONE" Life Essence being expressed. Take away Life Essence and Existence in all forms ceases to Exist. However if we get lost in the illusion of Existence, in the illusion of separation we can forget that we are ALL a part of and an expression of this "ONE" Life Essence and therefore it becomes me against you and me against one another and the world. But this isn't so, we are the world, we are this Life Essence, we are ONE, and this is exactly what we're learning to accept and take on as a species, and when we do fully, we'll see once and for all that I am you and you are me, you are simply in a sea of you's, and I'm in a sea of me's as we, and when we finally learn this, we'll realize that our purpose is to help one another not harm one another, and when we get this we'll realize that to harm another is to harm ourselves.
