Just A Few Words of Encouragement

I have been thinking about this strange journey called life.  It has ups and downs.  It has gains and losses.  It has successes.  It has set-backs (I choose not to use the word failure).  I have begun to see purpose for it all.

Some might not see the bigger picture.  Some might only see what is immediately in front of them.  Some might only see way out in the distance.  A lot of times it is like needing to have our own types of 'life vision', a visual perscription to adjust to what we need to focus on.

Whether it is our thoughts that need a tune up, the words that come out of our mouths, or our habits that need changing...we can tend to be our own worst enemy when it comes to manufacturing our future.  We choose to build or destroy.

I have toured a lot of Blog Talk Radio shows.  I have loved most of what people are doing out there.  There is a very real hunger to change.  Everything from changing our circumstances, facing our fears, to wanting our lives to be stable during uncertain times.  There are those that tell us what we should, could, or would do.  The truth is, we have to see for ourselves, within ourselves the actions that we need to take.

I am so full of gratitude for the friends I have made through this venue.  I have met people from all over, with so many different attributes, talents, and views.  I do see so much goodness that has come from my friendships.  These virtual friends have served as sounding boards and I have served as one myself at times.  I think, what most people do want to know is that someone does care and can be touched by the stories, lessons of wisdom, and the experiences we have shouldered along the way.

I just felt a need to say thank you.  I have been enriched by this experience, and hope to continue to be enriched by the tapestry of all of your stories.  Let us continue to amaze each other.

    Who is Unobtainable?

The question I am always asked is why do I use "Unobtainable".  This story actually goes back to when I got divorced.  I had started dating again and encountered men that actually thought that things were more important than relationships.  Money, things, trips, whatever props that could be used...well...in the end, I countered this superficial type of man with being "unobtainable".  I could not be bought, sold, or taken.  I only can give myself.  With that kind of mentality shift, it seemed to throw men off who were used to being asked questions like, 'What do you do for a living?'

I wanted to know what these men were all about.  What they dreamed of.  What were the deepest desires.  In other words, I was more concerned about who they were on the inside instead of what they portrayed to the world.  Sure, men are visual creatures, who are drawn to the attractiveness of a woman, but there had to be more in order to build more lasting relationships.

I began to write out of a need to purge myself from the pain of ending a nearly 17 year marriage.  I then started to transition from my journals to poetry.  From poetry to correspondence, and now into novels within a year.  I also served in the Air Force for 20 years, both active and reserve components.  Though I served in a profession of violence, my goal was to be a compassionate voice while in service.  I left because I found I could no longer morally support the war and I wanted to pursue my writing.  To strengthen my skills.

I am often why I have written about sex.  For a woman, it seems to be forbidden to be vocal.  I also am attracted to writing about the world of art.  The ever evolving sense of what will inspire a person to create something that is held very deeply inside.  So I pursued that channel, seemingly by accident.  However, as we all know, the arts community is heavily exploited.  These people have a need to create.  Just as I have a need to write.  Just as others have a need to do whatever they have chosen to do with their lives.

    I have written three books:
The Erotic Writings of Unobtainable - October 2007
Season of Want - April 2008
The Paris Diaries - Scheduled Release November 2008

There of course is more to follow.

My next venture/adventure is going to take me back to Paris.  After my first visit in Paris, I became entranced with this city that has been the center of intellectual thought, revolution, art, culture, and fashion.  Paris is very much like a lover that cannot be betrayed.   The city, which is easy to embrace as well as it is easy to offend is a wealth of mystery, passion, history and not to mention the sensuality the city is steeped in.  I remembered a scene out of the movie "Sabrina" where the character talks about picking your bridge to walk across.  I remembered the story of An American in Paris...and I remembered my own words coming back to me...

So I wrote "The Paris Diaries" about my preparation and journey to discover my jaded heart...
