I find this perspective that black men should "step up to the plate" because of Obama's example to be ludicrous and exasperating... There were plenty of black men who were being good fathers and good husbands long before Obama, and there will continue to be such men long after Obama. To act as though Obama is the long-awaited Messiah who will be the role model that black America has been waiting for is insulting and negates all the positive contributions that good black men have been
