Los Angeles-born Georgia Anne Muldrow (a.k.a. Ms.One) is well known for her unorthodox soundscaping and inspired traditional African song structuring. Her cameo performances with artists such as Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Dudley Perkins, Madlib and Wildchild feature her as a vocalist. Most recently Muldrow’s track “Roses” is featured on Mos Def’s latest release, The Ecstatic. UMSINDO (which means sound in Zulu) is Muldrow’s second full length album and tells this story with subject matter ranging from world politics to the metaphysical sciences-with laserlike synthwork to match. Georgia’s father is the late jazz guitarist Ronald Muldrow, her mother is singer/songwriter Rickie Byars-Beckwith.
Hailing from Oxnard California and beyond, Dudley Perkins (rap moniker Declaime) gained critical acclaim for collaborating with fellow Oxnardian heavyweights such as Madlib, Oh No, and Kankick. His raw commentary is known for being deeply rooted in funk and feel good grooves of yesteryear while maintaining today’s edgy truths of love and war. HOLY SMOKES is his latest release with Georgia Anne Muldrow behind the boards and is named aptly so- its swirling organs, gut-wrenching concepts and hard hitting rhythms are bound to astound you. On Holy Smokes, Perkins continues in his quest for self discovery and questions the universe at large.
