There is a confidence among saints of God that may not be warranted by scripture.  We so often claim victory over so many things...before it is appropriate to do so.  Sometimes we get confused regarding time or context.  For example and with regard to context, it was known by the astute that Jesus would be victorious.  However, not even many of them imagined that victory would be what some would consider a premature end to his life, and would look like a bloodied man hung upon a tree.  The words, "It is finished", uttered from physical agony, did not sound like a victory cry...at the time...unless you were in heaven already.

With regard to time, we often desire to "win" in the here and now, when God's victory plan for us is in the there and then.  Throughout the book of Revelation's messages to the churches, the promise of future benefit comes not to those who are winning, but to those who will win...and not to those who win by their own means, but by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.
