It is one of the most cherished and anticipated events in Western civilization: a man’s or a woman’s last day of working for another, as they go to spend their remaining days living on some combination of what they have saved, positive returns on investments, and other people’s money. If I had a nickel for each time I hear someone say how they are looking forward to retirement, then perhaps I could retire. But, who said that spending any of our time, under the sun, not working was a good idea?
