OK, this will be the final installment in this unconventional series on marriage.  I appreciate your patience with me during these weeks and my prayer is that someone received a benefit from the effort to expose a different scriptural perspective on marriage.

To finish up, I want to call your attention to three things:

  • Marriage is a covenant between a person and God, regarding how they will behave toward their spouse.  The spouse benefits from the covenant, but the covenant is not with them, and
  • The marriage covenant makes two people into one flesh - not one mind (still two), not one soul (still two), not one spirit (still two), but one flesh, and
  • The Lord made it clear "... the flesh profiteth nothing" (John 6:63)

So why would God design a covenant that unites two worthwhile people into a single worthless entity?  I have 30 minutes to explain what He's given me to understand.
