"I'm sold out to God" has been a popular expression in the Christian community for a very long time, often accompanied by a person's telling of their efforts to benefit God's kingdom. Yet many who were truly committed to God did not do great things. In fact, at the times their commitment was tested, it is difficult so see that they did anything at all. Commitment to God was often shown only by a person's endurance - often, they were left without resources to give, or the weight of emotional and spiritual stress muted their cries until only God could hear them. Being sold out is more about standing than it is about doing. When Satan begins stripping items of material and emotional value from people, those who remain, unbowed, in the rubble of the life they knew, are truly God's purchased possession. So, if your toys and joys have yet to be put on life's auction block, it may be hard to tell if you are "sold out". A person's response to Satan's peeling their life like an onion will reveal whether they are "sold out" to God, or merely for sale, with the price being the things God gave them in this life.
