Free Music Lessons Transform Children's Lives...

What would that gift mean?  How might it change a child's life forever?  Why is music education so important?

The People's Music School is the ONLY place in the United States where children can receive free music instruction, with an emphasis on classical training.  Starting with hard work, $625, and a donated piano, founder Dr. Rita Simo opened her school in a converted beauty salon.

Now, over 35 years later, The People's Music School serves nearly 500 students each year... teaching a majority of children from ethnic minorities, offering instruction on different instruments as well as voice and music theory.

Join us as Lynn interviews Aubree Weiley, Program Director for People's Music School in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago.  

Ms. Weiley brings both a national award-winning performance background, as well as experience in accompanying, choral conducting and vocal coaching.  What's more, Ms. Weiley is a former Peace Corps volunteer, having lived and worked in Lesotho, Africa for over two years, doing research on the music of the Basotho people.
