Now...DeAnna you may ask...what are you doing featuring a Jesuit priest, let alone a MAN, on your show? Let alone as a "Kick A** Woman"? What's going on? Well...Fr McCabe was the driving force for women to be accepted for admitance at Marquette University (my alma mater!!! Go Warriors...er, Golden Eagles!).This historical decision was THE FIRST for a Catholic school of higher education that women & men would be educated side-by-side! Needless to say, this was met with much scepticism and the push back was great. This went all the way to Rome, where the decision to back up Fr McCabe took 3 years! During this time however, Fr McCabe & Marquette admitted women! Fr McCabe was ultimately reassigned to Xavier University where he did the exact same thing-paving the way for women to attend a Catholic university alongside men. As a side note-this is the 100th Anniversary of Women at Marquette & I wanted to make sure that Fr McCabe was honored in my own small way, as I'm a true benefactor of his pioneering & "kick a**" contribution for helping to empower women!
