In this episode, meet music maven Marina Kamen! Marina Kamen/aka/MARINA, is the winner of the first People‘s Choice Award in Podcasting for Musical Health & Fitness. She is also co-owner of Kamen Entertainment Group. Born a native New Yorker in 1959, MARINA started dance at age 4 in New York City, added violin and piano at age 7, and then , by the age of 11, went on to study opera and violin at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. By the early 1980‘s, MARINA started to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. While supplementing her income by waiting tables and teaching voice lessons she pioneered and spear headed the aerobic exercise industry as one of the original instructors at Body Design By Gilda in New York City. In addition to her work on countless commercials over the past 25 years, MARINA is known for her Billboard and music charting record releases. An innovator in online distribution, MARINA‘s catalogue of over 400 songs and more than 40 albums are currently being distributed around the globe with companies including Audible.com, iAmplify.com & Lodingo Australia. In 2005, MARINA was awarded the first People‘s Choice Award in Podcasting for her original musical health and fitness programming. In this interview, we get to meet one of the creators of TREPS, Pamela deWaal. TREPS, a trendy term for young entrepreneurs, is the award-winning, entrepreneurship education program that provides the right situation for the kids in your school to become extraordinary. TREP$ gets kids excited to come to school and helps children to think big. TREPS ED, LLC was founded by Hayley Romano (left) and Pamela deWaal (right). Hayley is a certified elementary school teacher who resides in New Jersey with her husband and three sons. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Bucknell University and completed her teaching certification at William Paterson University. In addition to TREPS ED, Hayley owns and operates a summer camp business that offers fun, hands-on educational activities in many fields including Archaeology and Crime Scene Investigation. She is an Ambassador for the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education and was a 2005 recipient of a scholarship from the Consortium. Pamela deWaal lives in New Jersey with her husband, son and daughter. After receiving a Bachelors in Business: Retail Merchandising and Management from Montclair State University, her desire to work with children motivated her to return to school to earn her elementary and mathematics teaching certificates from William Paterson University. Her entrepreneurial insight comes from starting her business, Mountain Soul Jewelry, as well as her experience offering educational and social summer camps for children.
