Angel, Goddess, Phenomenal, Queen, Inspirational, and Friend. All these words have been used to describe Mahogony Diva. Mahogony Diva is a writer, published author, spoken-word artist, graphic designer, and mentor. Diva is known for breaking the barriers and placing truth directly in the face of the world. Even as a child, her voice was concentrated with waves of texture and sound. Her urban philosophy speaks of the emotional challenges and direct social interactions that African Americans deal with on a daily basis. She is focused on promoting self awareness not only within herself, but within the souls of her peers as well. In 2005, Mahogony Diva published her first book, “Soulful Whispers.” The book is a collection of poetry that touches on subjects such as love, lust, relationships, and life in the urban communities. Diva has been compared to many poetic icons, such as Nikki Giovanni and Maya Angelou. Although she is humbled by these comparisons, she feels that she would like to be classified as having her own style; mixing spoken word poetry with a mellow bass lines and symphonic trebles. Her voice has been labeled as "hypnotic" accompanied by earth tones.
