Marian Anderson was an African American contralto and one of the most celebrated singers of the twentieth century.  The African American Biography Series of 2013 is privileged to bring to you tonight the biography of Ms. Marian Anderson.  The goal of The African American Biography series is to document Black History on Internet radio.  You are listening to Blogtalkradio.  I'm Laura Gall and the name of my show is "You Talk Too Much".  "You Talk Too Much" is a featured show in the Blogtalkradio line up of shows.  Marian Anderson's "voice was a rich vibrant contralto of intrinsic beauty" as described by music critic Alan Blythe.  Most of her singing career was spent performing in concert and recital in major music venues and with famous orchestras throughout the United States and Europe between 1925-1965.  Wikipedia, my source for tonight's segment has listed Marian Anderson's birthdate as February 1897.  She died in April 1993. She performed for more than 40 years of her life.  Marian Anderson was also an iimportant figure in the struggle for Black Artist to overcome racial prejudice in the United States during the mid-twentieth century.  You are listening to Blogtalkradio, intelligent radio.  My call in number is 1-714-242-5273.  I'm Laura Gall.
