African American Beauty Queens:  The African American Biography Series of 2013 dated April 25, 2013 brings to you the lives of just a few African American Miss Americas and Miss U.S.A.s  The current Miss U.S.A. 2012 is Nana Meriwether.  She was born in South Africa, but raised in Potomac, Maryland.  She graduated from UCLA in 2004.  She was twice named an All American in vollyball.  She enjoys volunteering her time to help others.  The first African American Miss USA arrived in 1990.  Her name is Carol Gist.  And, the most popular, strikingly beautiful Miss USA of 1993 is Miss Kenya Moore.  Take a twirl and give your Miss USA hand wave Kenya Moore.  Kenya more is a Movie Producer, a regular on the reality show Housewives of Atlanta and currently has a best selling exercise video on the market.  The most famous Miss America is our very own Vanessa L. Williams.  She was born in the Bronx, N.Y. to parents who were both music teachers.  Vanessa arrived on the scene singing and dancing.  She was crowned Miss America in 1983.  Unfortunately, she had to relinquish her crown in 1984 to another African American runner up Miss Suzette Charles.  There have been a total of eight African American Miss Americas.  The last winner was Caressa Cameron from the state of Virginia. Caressa Cameron is truly a role model.  She won her crown in 2010.  She traveled 250,000 miles during her year of service making appearances on television and speaking at corporate events.  Her fight is for HIV/AIDS awareness.  The African American Community has a rich history.  Blogtalkradio allows me, Laura Gall, to bring to you Black History on Internet Radio,  intelligent radio.
