The African American Biography Series of 2013:  The Life of Frederick Douglass, escaped Slave, Orator, Abolitionist and Social Reformer.  Due to the enslavement of his family and the unknown identity of his father, Frederick Douglass did not know his actual birthdate and age.  He is believed to have been born in 1818.  He died in 1895.  He described his escape to New York and the feeling of freedom in this quote from his writings:  "a new world had opened up to me.  I lived more in one day than in a year of my slave life.  I felt as one might feel upon escape from a den of hungry lions.  My chains were broken, and the victory brought me unspeakable joy".  Who among us has ever felt unspeakable joy? Producer and Host of "You Talk Too Much" on blogtalkradio, Laura Gall
