Mad Mariner's Madcast: An Introduction to Electronic Charting

On Mad Mariner's MadCast today, Editor Glen Justice interviewed Mark Doyle, author of Get Onboard With E-Charting, about the basics of electronic charting and computer-based navigation.

In part one of a three-part podcast, Doyle explained e-charting systems, the history of these systems and why they are helpful to all kinds of boaters. It runs 30 minutes.

For more information on electronic charting, including a glossary of terms and other resources, see Mad Mariner's series Hard Facts on Software. The series gave rise to the book, Get Onboard With E-Charting, which takes it to the next level.

Mad Mariner's MadCast covers all aspects of boats and boating. Doyle will be back on future MadCasts to explain how to purchase navigation software and setup your own electronic charting system.
