Today we're going to try to unpack why the phrase "Black Lives Matter" mean so much in a society in which being Black often times means being assaulted on different levels from all aspects. We're not just talking about the multi-level assaults of systemic and individual racism against Black people, but the general feeling of insecurity that many Black people feel as we navigate through everyday life.
We have to make the point that Black Lives Matter, because sometimes living life in Black skin is fraught with hypervigilance and stress and trauma that those who live in other skin not only don't experience, but don't believe is important and impacts us on a daily, emotional and deep psychological basis.
Black Lives Matter. And we're going to try to explain some of the many reasons we feel a need to make that point.
