****TODAY IS A PRE-RECORDED PODCAST.  NO CALLS WILL BE TAKEN DURING BROADCAST****

In the debate about the Confederate Flags still flying on legislative houses in some Southern states, the question often arises, "Why is all this focus on the flag?"  The truth is, the focus of this effort to remove these flags from buildings that are supposed to represent and serve all the people is not the flag, but what it represents - the pain and horror of slavery, and the lasting impact it has not just on the descendants of the African slaves who endured it, but on White America to this day.

Please listen carefully as Dr. Leary delves deeply into the connection between the trauma of slavery and the dysfunction in American society today.  We hope that this will provide more insight into why all the other reasons cited that the Civil War was fought are never as important as slavery to many people.  Because if the South had won, we might not be talking about POST Traumatic Slave Syndrome, but Traumatic Slave Syndrome, because we might still be slaves.
