Join Austin Airwaves' Jim Ellinger to find out if Public broadcasing is really in danger of cuts in federal funding. Afterall, despite the Dept. of Commerce's cuts in response to GOP's pressure  in Congress, the $20m cut to the PTFP (Public Telecommunications Facilities Program) may not be missed. Join Rural America Radio to learn about new and better sources of funding. Did you know that:

  • the Administration proposes to support public broadcasters through CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting). The Budget includes $6 million for CPB in 2012 in addition to its $445 million enacted advance appropriation, for total proposed 2012 resources of $451 million.
  • The Budget also proposes an advance appropriation for CPB in 2014 of $451million to support public broadcasters.  CPB funds can support the same types of capital projects as PTFP funding has in the past, as well as stations' operating and programming costs.

PTFP appropriated only $20 million in 2010, and provided a far less significant level of support to public broadcasters than CPB.
