Teddy Roosevelt said that there is no place in this country for hypenated Americans. He was right. The left tell us that this is a nation of immigrants. They are also right. How can these two seemingly divergent points of view both be right? Yes we are a nation of immigrants, BUT until the past few decades, immigrants were required to come here LEGALLY and to assimilate, to become AMERICANS, Not hyphenated Americans. To truly become Americans, immigrants must assimilate to this culture, not try to live in their own little world. For this great American experience to succeed required that it be a melting pot wherein foreign cultures were alloyed into one American culture. An alloy is stronger than the base metals. The fragmentation of this society caused by multiculturalism is destroying the very foundation of what made this country great.
