Show Notes

In my blog, www.aPanopticLife.Blogspot.com, you can see that my opinion is that the point of life is to fill it with meaningful experiences. I have Aspergers, which is on the autism specturm, and while the shows aren't generally about autism, my diverse way of thinking opens the door what might be a new frame of reference, to help you get the most out of your life. I'd love you to call into the show live, at (347) 826-7186. Shows include topics on making life goals, parenting a child with autism, relationship issues for both men and women, and how we can help each other by working together. Shows aren't on a regular schedule, so please select my show as a favorite so you will know when a show is coming up. Thanks for listening!

    Blog Post: Shanti's Show

Yesterday was a great day... In addition to doing my own show solo (more than a little bit daunting, I admit!) I also did a show with Shanti, who is another woman on the spectrum.

Shanti does a show called Mind Awareness, which is a great show that explores the mind of people on the autism spectrum. What I like about Shanti's show is that it's not "catchy" or filled with talk-radio-ey quips and fast-talk and jokes. Shanti is thoughtful and intelligent and the show is relaxing and great for people who prefer less excitement, not more. Personally, I tend to be full of energy, so it's therapeutic for me to listen and watch things which are soothing, calming and without a lot of extraneous activity... I tend to think that most people interested in learning about autism are probably the same way, either because they are on the spectrum and don't tolerate the excessive stimulation well, or because they are NT who is close to an autie/Aspie and have enough excitement already! Lol! Anyway, Shanti's show is really great, she is a remarkable woman, a great, upcoming new host, and I hope you check out her show. Yesterday we talked about relationships as they fit into the world of a person on the spectrum (including Aspies) and Jeff Detusch called in, from the Building Common Ground blog.

My show from yesterday was about kids with (more specifically) Aspergers and things that parents can do to help them navigate through the special education system in public schools. For additional resources, such as reading logs designed for children with Aspergers, homework sheets designed to help kids stay focused on completing assigned homework, and behavior reinforcers, as well as other free and low cost, downloadable resources for parents and teachers, click here. For Asperger and autism Awareness items, such as ID badges, tote bags, bumperstickers, baby bibs, service dog ID tee shirt, and fun-to-wear apparel, please click here to browse. Stay tuned!

    Blog post: Up and Running

    Saturday, September 06, 2008 1:49:55 PM

Well, we've managed to get the show up and running. Yea!

A test run, a first show with some dead air, and then, it happened. A "REAL" show. It was great fun. I am looking forward to scheduling more shows, please bookmark this profile and check back for scheduled shows. Additionally, I would love feedback on show topic suggestons, so please feel free to message me with your suggestions, and/or if you would like to be a guest caller.

First we talked to my mom, who is a neuro-typical, working in the health field, and discussed the dynamics between Aspies and NTs on some levels which we have personally encountered.
You can visit her eHow articles about imporving the lives of seniors.

Next we talked to Jeff Deutsch, who is another Aspie, and has
a wonderful blog called Building Common Ground. Jeff's goal is to help Aspies and NTs find that common ground where we can better understand and work with eacthother. There is a lot of valuable information to be discovered on his blog.

Please also take a minute to visit my two blogs:
A Panoptic Life is a blog about nothing in particular and everything you can imagine. All from the Aspergeriarian perspective.

The 24 Hour Turn Around is a blog about taking 24 small steps, one a day, to reprogram old habits into healthy life changes. As of this post, we have reached 5 entries, meant to be read no more than one each day so that each process is fully assimilated.

I hope you will listen live next time, and call in with your questions or comments.

    Thanks for visiting!
