Lori Finnila

Lori Finnila is a domestic violence survivor who has written and published two books about domestic violence and has finished another title "The Virtuous Woman" about domestic violence as well and waiting for it to be released trying to bring attention to the ways of domestic violence. Lori pulled herself out from this by herself after running from domestic violence for years and suffering a permanent brain injury due to this. Her personal interviews are at http://lorifinnila.webs.com/lorisinterviews.htm Her first 15 min. interview for "My Brain Injury" is at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/book-that-author.

Show Notes

Come spend an hour with Lori Finnila and her co-host Natalie McCann in a discussion of women's day to day challenges along with social issues important to us. Just sit back and relax and grab a cup of coffee or tea and listen in or call in to our happy, and our sad moments, our accomplishments, and our stories that we will all share together. Want to mention: We are always there for the abused first. We need to take care of our women. If we don't no one else will. This show was designed with the unity of women in mind to be there for one another. At any time if there is a woman in need we are here for them. We will take a call during the show or an email anytime at lorifinnila@gmail.com. We have a google groups for any announcements that your welcome to join at http://groups.google.com/group/women-empowerment-hour-w-lori-and-nat and email contact there is women-empowerment-hour-w-lori-and-nat@googlegroups.com. We also have show calendar with shows all the way through until January 26, 2010. We will be updating and adding regularly at http://lorifinnila.webs.com/apps/calendar/. If you are interested in being on the show please let us know. This show is to help stop the fragile state of women feeling so alone and possibly ending up in an abuse situation being mental or physical by showing we are all here for each other. We are always looking for new guests and new topic suggestions. Please feel free to contact us. My books are up here often. I am a survivor and I think I speak louder with a picture that I have accomplished myself even through everything. I feel that the show will be taken more seriously and show that Nat and I are serious about our work and our show. My Published Books and Projects Still Working On.

    To All My Fathers
To All My Fathers is my life being streamed into a story while running from my abuser of 13 years and still running at times.  A naive girl constantly searching for hope in life along with love and happiness in a preferred fairy tale atmosphere which she can see none other than.

Due to the graphic nature the book depicts the violence that happens to me at times in a somewhat fictional form.

    My Brain Injury
I received the first initial brain injury in 1990. Then followed by domestic violence and a coma which led me to a permanent brain injury.

There were many misconceptions of my injury and how I received it so I wanted to clear this up.

I talk about how my life changed and the injustice of it. My treatment from others and how I was discriminated against and how I had to try and raise my son like this without losing him. Also how I deal with my injury everyday and the deficits and how it left me in complete isolation. But how I found my inner soul and my aspirations again from this. I was now past it after putting it down on paper and ready to move on with my next project.

    The Virtuous Woman
I'm working on this book.  This is another domestic violence story yet this woman get's smart at the end.  It is a more to true rendition of everyday lives of us women who may not portray as the perfect woman to some making mistakes as we all do and finding our ways and ourselves in the end.  Our troubles are not perfectly defined as one might wish so that others may not find or see our troubles in a manner conclusive to acceptance.

Both published books above are published through PublishAmerica.com for requests of any kind.  They are available from the publisher at the lowest price, http://www.publishamerica.net/product85192.html  and http://www.publishamerica.net/product27698.html  They are also available online or for order at Barnes and Noble and Amazon(Borders) in person).
