Cascadia Wild is a Portland-based nonprofit dedicated to connecting local people with the natural world.
We offer programs in animal tracking, wild plant foraging, and wilderness survival, combining modern ecology with the ancient practices of living with nature. Our goals are to instill people with a sense of place in the natural world and to help people develop healthier relationships with the natural environment and with their community.
Cascadia Wild runs a volunteer-based wildlife survey project on Mt Hood, called the Wolverine Tracking Project, in which trained volunteers help survey for wolverine and other rare carnivores. Participants learn animal tracking skills while helping contribute to an increased understanding of the wildlife on Mt Hood.
We talk to Teri Lysak and Maggie Starr with Cascadia Wild about the "Wolverine Tracking Project", there "Intensive Tracking Program" and other tracking classes they teach.
