Now is the time to plan. Health strategies to help you get through the holidays to prevent overeating, trips to the hospital and depression.
ViValdi's FOUR SEASONS...It's winter time, it's holiday time and it's a joyous time to be filled with celebration. Holiday time comes with health risks, such as lonliness, depression, overeating and weight gain. Falls in icy weather, food borne illness and heart problems.
Even though the holidays are often happy, they sometimes trigger lonliness, sadness and a general feeling of the blues.

AH, it's so tempting to side step your goal, not to overeat at holiday time. Here's a thought, have a light, healthy snack an hour before party time and then ask a friend to help you stick to your eating goals.
At the buffet table, use a salad plate to keep your portions smaller and cut down on calories. Stay away from unhealthy saturated fat, anything creamy, cheesy or buttery. Avoid or limit foods that will make your blood sugar spike...sugry cocktails, desserts, potatoes, pasta, rice and bread.
Avoid salty foods...etc.
Leave old habits...etc.
Enjoy the moment...etc.

Plan ahead...be aware...if traveling check the weather forecast...avoid BLACK ICE. Some experiences during the holidays can land you in the hospital.
Icy conditions. If you must go out in icy weather don't carry heavy shopping bags full of presents on icy walkways or stairs. Wear rubber soled shoes for better traction and take small steps to help maintain your balance...THIS IS FOR EVERYONE...ALL AGES!
Make sure all foods are fully cooked. Turkeys need to be fully thawed before baking.
A year-round mood booster...VOLUNTEER...etc.
Best way to lift your spirits...etc.
Ring the bell for...etc.
Run errands for a neighbor who needs help...etc.
Avoid 'HOLIDAY HEART' by...etc.

You know, with all the Holiday Dinners and the delicious spreads to go along with it, one can't help but avoid the scale these days for fear of what they may see. How discouraging can this be when you're too occupied counting calories or sticking with the finger foods!
Well, I've learned to do "everything" in moderation and not deprive myself of the "hellicious" feast that we all enjoy as a family! Enjoying dinner time with your family is important, but special Holidays are even more special due to the efforts that are involved. So, instead of ruining your Holiday Feast, just take the time to move at least 30-minutes each day. Doing so will keep you: heart healthy, lower blood pressure, increase serotonin, better sex, and a host of other beneficial rewards! So, make it a win win and keep it mooovin...
