His latest book, “The High Road to Aspen,” is a history of Independence Pass that tells the founding story of Aspen. He also recently authored “The Story of Snowmass,” a thorough history pictorial account of Snowmass Village and ski resort. Andersen founded Huts For Vets in January 2013, a non-profit designed to help combat veterans cope with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other combat-related maladies. The program focuses on wilderness as a place for national healing and the 10th Mountain Ski Huts near Aspen as safe havens.
