    Online Friendships & Relationships

There's a big difference between virtual reality and the real life reality of internet users who blog, or connect on websites like Myspace, Multiply, and Facebook (or others). In virtual reality, people can create an online internet persona. This persona may be more bold or different than the real life personality of the person typing responses or even having a particular image online in a profile page. In virtual life, this person can be different, more bold, more open, than maybe their real life. Friendships that connect to the online personalities may be for entertainment, friendships, or networking opportunities that help a person. Online connections can be bold, fun, and cool.

Unfortunately, most people may use the platform of internet friendships to build up a fragile ego, or connect with people to fill a need that is not filled in their real life connections. Everyone that is online may or may not be telling the truth about who they really are. There have been instances of profiles belonging to under age children who are online because they need attention. Being careful when online as well, posting personal information, can be hurtful if put in the wrong hands.

There are many considerations to be considered as you meet and greet your online buddies.

Tonight we'll discuss a plethora of situations that crop up from being online friends.

We urge you to call in during the show as we discuss the topic at hand. Callers are invited to share stories below on the blog or call mid-show (around 9:30 PM CST time).

We thank you for listening to Talk To Me tonight and if you've missed any past shows, go to the archives and listen. Comment or rate the shows and leave feedback on the main page or page of the specific show you're listening too.

Again, we thank you and welcome your thoughts on this subject tonight.
