As a founding member of legendary R&B group The O'Jays, Eddie Levert enjoyed seven Top 20 singles throughout the '70s—followed by induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three decades later. But stepping out on his own in this digital age has been a bit less smooth. "I just finished an Eddie Levert project and I'm going to release it through the Internet. It's called Eddie Levert: I Still Have It," he tells BlakeRadio Network host Eddie Blake. "This is probably the hardest thing I ever did, because trying to find an identity outside of The O'Jays—you can't do anything but sound like yourself. It's like trying to reinvent yourself and not make it sound like an O'Jays record. But no matter what I do, everything does sound like an O'Jays record because the voice is just so synonymous with group."
