So often there is such unnecessary hurt that takes place in families when divorcing. There are insults that can make a situation even worse such as Adultry,Domestic Violence and introducing a Step-parent to the equation can make anyone feel like their world is ending. Even worse you have to live with some of these insults for years or the rest of your life. Claims of adultry can devastate a person's self esteem and for the person who is the underdog the damage is long lasting. I can speak from experience because I have lived past the hurt of a failed relationship and the Step-parentng was the hardest part. My approach was to make every effort to get along with this person that my children would be spending time with unfortunately she had other ideas and one of them was to exile me to hell. My children sufferd and it was so uncalled for but we learned many lessons in the process. I have always been interested in "victim's Rights" and for the past 11 years I have worked as a Domestic Violence Advocate.I was never a victim of domestic violence in my marriage but I knew of relationships both friends and family where abuse was involved. I have sat in numerous divorce hearings, Orders of Protection hearings and Criminal hearings Unfortunately people think there will be great closure after these preceedings. The outcome is usually relief followed by "what do I do next" and "what should I expect". I watch women struggle with unexpected emotions on a regular basis and it has lead me down a path of wanting to be productive and helpful,as a result of that I have become a certified Mediator. I attempt to bring some reason to the table from both parties. That can be difficult when there are raw feelings at the table. With mediation often the parties can have a discussion with out being interrupted each time they attempt to express their point of view. When children are involved it is always easier if the parents can make choices where their children are concerned .
