Welcome to the first LIGHTNING STRIKES show on Blog Talk Radio.  This post is meant to provide you with some background on the show, what you can expect in the future, and our call-in number.

First, the call-in number you can use to speak directly with our guests:  that number is (646) 595-3863.  Feel free to call in with your questions when I let you know the lines are open for your comments and questions at the end of the "formal" interviews.

    This week we feature:

MASTER P: Widely regarded as one of music’s most successful entrepreneurs, Percy Miller, a/k/a Master P, revolutionized the industry by selling over 75 million albums since opening the doors of his self-owned hip-hop record label, No Limit Records in 1994.  To date, he has garnered an astounding twelve multi-platinum, ten platinum, and thirteen gold albums.  He has graced the cover of Fortune magazine and has been listed on Fortune’s “40 Richest Under 40”  three times and Forbes’ “Top List of Highest Paid Entertainers.”   He also earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Highest Paid Entertainer in Hip Hop in 1999.

A native of poverty stricken New Orleans, Master P has a true rags-to-riches story.   A self- made multi-millionaire and multi-platform entertainer, Master P has enjoyed world-renown success as a best-selling hip-hop artist, a successful actor/producer/director, an athlete, a clothing designer and, most recently, an author with his new self-help guide, “Guaranteed Success,” (Urban Books/Kensington Books) in stores now.

Master P has produced eight films, written and directed more than six, and starred in over a dozen including major studio releases such as “Gone in 60 Seconds” (alongside Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie), “Dark Blue” with Kurt Russell and starred opposite Harrison Ford in the cop comedy “Hollywood Homicide” (2003).  Master P also manages the music, film and television career of his son, teen rap star Lil’ Romeo.  The father and son co-starred in “Romeo!” their own Nickelodeon sitcom.  Hitting the air in 2003, the show ran for 3 seasons and was one of the networks highest rated shows. It is now in national syndication on BET.

ALEX LEMAY: “Desert Bayou” Director and Producer

Alex LeMay is an award winning feature film and broadcast director. Over his 14-year career he has directed a number of acclaimed feature films as well as provided commercial media for some of the world’s top-tier companies, including Johnson and Johnson, Starbuck’s Coffee Company, CVS Pharmacies, Abbott Laboratories and Office Max.  His award winning feature documentary, The Bulls of Suburbia caught the eye of Universal Studios, for whom he produced and directed the bullfighting sequence for the Academy Award nominated film Seabiscuit. LeMay is currently in production on his third feature documentary, Conversations With the Enemy: a Dark Comedy of Opinion, which examines the relationship between Europe, the US and Islam.

Desert Bayou premiered in Southern Sidebar, a curated program at the world-renowned Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham, North Carolina.  LeMay has run and operated the Chicago-based motion picture company, Taproot Productions, since 1993. He represents the new breed of up-and-coming talent in the film and media production world and has positioned himself as a leader in new media development.
